welcome chip folk!!!

A very warm welcome to Professor Charles Folk, Director of the Cognitive Science Program at the University of Villanova and long-standing friend of Roger, who is visiting UQ. We’re looking forward to his talk, Levels of Control:  Top-down Set for Features, Dimensions, Categories, and Schemas — Friday, the 10th of August, 3-4PM, in Room 201-204, Level 2, McElwain Building (24A).

New publication on eye movements and attention

Congrats to Will Harrison for having the first paper of his PhD research accepted in PLoS ONE. Along with his co-authors, Jason Mattingley and Roger Remington, Will reports on his work showing the effects of exogenous cues presented just prior to a saccadic eye movement. PLoS ONE is an open access journal so everyone will be able to download the paper appearing online soon.

a real psych science paper

Congratulations to Stefanie, Chip and Roger for getting a paper on the Relational Theory accepted in Psych Science: Becker, S.I., Remington, R.W., & Folk, C.L. (in press). Attentional capture does not depend on feature similarity but on target-nontarget relations, Psychological Science.
